Tribute to John Anderson from Prostate Cancer UK

Created by Sarah 10 years ago
It was with great sadness that we learnt of the death of John Anderson. John was a fantastic trustee of Prostate Cancer UK for a number of years. He stepped down from the Board of trustees at the end of last year but continued as an active member of the charity. John was diagnosed with what turned out to be prostate cancer last year and has spent the past 12 months living life to its fullest. Since being diagnosed, John used every opportunity to tell his story to highlight why we need to do more to tackle this dreadful disease and his legacy will inspire us all. John was a highly respected urologist and leading light of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS). Adrian Joyce, President of BAUS said 'John was a superb colleague, an inspiration and a great friend and mentor to so many of us. He has been a national and international presence in guiding standards in urological cancer care for our patients for the last decade, especially in the field of prostate cancer.' John's family will be holding a private funeral with an event to celebrate his life likely to be held later in the year. John's family have requested no flowers and have asked friends and colleagues to make donations to Prostate Cancer UK. We have lost a great supporter, champion and most importantly a dear friend. We know that John would want us all to remember him with a smile and to continue all that we are doing to improve the lives of men with even more purpose.
